Case #2
First Christian Church of Edinburgh
October 1st, 2005
Conclusion of investigation of
First Christian Church of Edinburgh on 10-01-2005 as written by Shanon Ping
This is
the home church of three of our team members. There have been
eyewitness accounts of a ghostly figure of a man, probably 1940's time
period, being seen in the
balcony area of the sanctuary and also in the hallway leading to the
fellowship hall. The church was built in 1888 and has no known history
of any tragedies but it has been the sight of several funerals.
We split into 2 groups
with Robert and myself starting in the basement and working our way up
to the bell tower. Kenny and Greg stayed on the main floor in the area
of the fellowship hall. We set up a night vision camera in the
sanctuary recording the balcony area. We also set up video in the
fellowship hall recording the hallway and a 3rd camera was set up in
the hallway behind the fellowship hall. We took many pictures
throughout the church. DVR was also used during the investigation.
As we first entered the church we felt a rush of euphoria and some
lightheadedness but we attribute that to this being our first
investigation of a building. After getting settled in we no longer felt
any of this. The basement has some unfinished areas that did have many
cobwebs and a creepy feel to it. As Robert and myself made our way up
to the bell tower I noticed lots of dust particularly in the tower
itself. We did not sense anything out of the ordinary. Kenny and Greg
also did not have any thing unusual happen to them on the main floor.
Since the church has lots of windows and stained glass we were getting
some reflections. Outside lights were also filtering into the church
and creating some movement inside. We spent a total time of about 2.5
hrs for the investigation. Findings: Our night vision camera went out
of focus soon after it was set up and captured nothing. The other video
also revealed nothing. We had many pictures of dust but no orb
activity. However one unexplained noise was captured on one DVR that
was set up in the rear hallway behind the fellowship hall. About 10
minutes into recording a sound like something moving across the floor
was heard and then silence for the rest of the tape. There were no
voices from any of us in the fellowship hall so we don't believe it to
be caused by our own actions. We also had video set up in the same
location but it revealed nothing to help explain the noise. The team
believes that while we did not collect much evidence of paranormal
activity we can neither confirm nor deny activity at the church.
