Franklin, Indiana- Artcraft Theater
March 16th, 2007
 Hoosier Paranormal Research had the
pleasure of investigating the historic Artcraft Theater in Franklin Indiana on this night.
Opened on November 1st, 1922 the 600-seat theater originally operated
as a vaudeville and silent movie house. The original dressing rooms are
still in existence below the stage and the theater still shows
classical movies. While not as large as The Crump in Columbus it is a
charming place still decorated in Art Deco design from an era gone by.It was a cold and windy night and investigators present included Shanon, Greg, Robert, and our newest investigator-in-training Elisa. 3 guests also accompanied us. Equipment used included wired and hand held video, audio recorders, EMF meters, and temperature devices. A total of about 20 hrs. of audio and 25 hrs. of video were recorded. As far as paranormal history at the Artcraft there have been multiple reports of strange activity over the years. As we were being given our tour of the theater 2 of our investigators caught the smell of perfume near the stage. This is a phenomenon that has been reported time and again in this location. There are also reports of a shadowy figure reportedly seen by many people sitting in the 3rd row. Hoosier Paranormal had a quiet night at the Artcraft but we did have some unexplained EMF spikes occur a few times. Also Greg was walking down row 4 and observed a seat lower down and rise back up by itself. We were able to debunk this though because we found that when pushed all the way back in the upright position the vibration of walking near the seat will cause it to fall and bounce back up. Findings: We did manage to capture one EVP, strangely enough this was recorded at 12:21 am, the same time the chair incident happened to Greg. It was recorded at the concession stand, and everyone was accounted for out in the main seating area. We have found what it say’s to be inconclusive, but please listen for yourself. Conclusion: Hoosier Paranormal believes that the Artcraft may indeed have some spirit activity but would like to do some further investigating before determining rather it is haunted or not. |
