Case #36
Seymour, Indiana- Private Residence
July 19th, 2008

HPR was invited to investigate a private residence in Seymour, Indiana by the homeowner. The claims of activity were mostly apparitions and feelings of being touched. The homeowner has seen, on more than one occasion, the apparitions of 3 children; 2 boys and a young girl. She says that the appearances followed being awakened in her bed by the feeling of someone touching her arm. The homeowner’s young grandson has reported seeing an Indian in the closet of her bedroom. When he was questioned about the Indian, he said that the Indian’s name was “Wanahtu” (Wah-Nah-Too). She has also been told by a psychic that the woods and property are haunted by children and that there was a feeling of strangulation surrounding one of the entities. The family dogs are also purported to bark at a certain spot on the living room wall for no reason.

HPR arrived at the home at about 9:00 p.m. on July 19, 2008. After a short tour of the wooded property and a dilapidated barn, the group split into teams:  Team #1- Kenny, Greg and Kelly, and Team #2- John, Robert and the homeowner. The investigation officially began at 10:40 p.m. Equipment used were 5 digital voice recorders, 2 video cameras with night vision, digital cameras and a K2 meter.

Team #1 began their investigation in the homeowner’s bedroom where the Indian and the 3 young children had been seen. The team performed an EVP session in conjunction with a K2 meter. Kelly sensed a ‘hole’ in the floor in front of the closet. Upon leaving the bedroom and entering the hallway, Kelly immediately experienced the strong scent of freshly cut roses. Greg coho bated the smell. Greg returned to the bedroom for a moment, and then reentered the hallway. The smell of freshly cut roses was still very strong and the K2 meter reacted sharply. Members of Team #2 were nearby and also smelled the scent. The homeowner had never experienced these phenomena. An inspection of the outside proved there were no roses growing anywhere near the house.

Team #2 began their investigation in the living room, using a video camera with night vision to record any activity on or near the wall where the dogs have reacted. The team also performed an EVP session. No personal experiences were reported during this portion of their investigation. Team #2 then went into the homeowner’s bedroom. Upon analysis of the digital voice recorders later that week, an EVP was captured in response to a question asked by Kenny. Question; “Can you go towards the green light?”, Response; a child’s voice saying “No”. This EVP was recorded on 4 of the digital voice recorders.

Upon exiting the bedroom, Robert experienced a ‘tug’ on the right leg of his cargo shorts. Immediately after the tug, a cell phone, in his pocket began to play music. It is impossible for the phone to play the music without pressure being applied to a button for several seconds. He was passing a trunk in the hallway and, initially thought he may have brushed against the trunk. However, upon reenactment,  it was clear that it could not have happened in that way.

At this point in the evening, the entire group went outside of the house to allow the homeowner to simulate her bedtime ritual in an attempt to draw out the 3 child entities in her bedroom. The K2 meter was placed on the bureau in the bedroom with the homeowner and it showed 2 sharp responses.

When reentering the home, Robert again smelled the scent of roses in the hallway. The team turned up nothing in the bathroom or surrounding rooms which could have produced the scent. At this time, Greg, Kelly and the homeowner saw a low shadow in the bathroom crossing in front of the vanity. Nothing was captured on video, or audio and the K2 meter did not react.

Analysis later in the week also revealed an unexplained
whistling sound which was captured in the living room while the entire team was outside the house and the homeowner was in her bedroom. This capture is being considered a possible EVP until homeowner can be contacted.

The investigation was wrapped up at 3:40 a.m. The determination of the team is that there is paranormal activity at this residence.
