Six
Mile Cemetery is located just off Highway 50 in Hayden Indiana. A
co-worker of Robert’s asked Hoosier Paranormal there. Our
client told us that several eyewitnesses have seen the ghostly figure
of a woman coming across the graveyard and stopping at the fence near
the roadway. Our client provided some background on the history of this
small Indiana town. She stated that around 150 years ago there was an
epidemic (possibly small pox) that spread in the community. The parents
of all the children began dying off. The town hired a nurse to take
care of them but eventually the disease also spread to the kids. The
town nurse made many promises to the dying parents that she would care
and watch over their children. Now the ghost of the nurse walks the
cemetery continuing to watch out over the young people who died,
keeping her promise for all eternity.
Robert, Greg, Shanon and Kenny were accompanied by one guest and three
witnesses. The witnesses stayed out by the cars during our
investigation. The weather was cloudy and chilly with temperatures in
the low 50’s. There was no moon. Equipment used was digital
cameras, EMF detector, night vision video camera and DVR. During our
investigation two investigators and our guest heard what they thought
were children laughing or possibly crying. These phenomena occurred in
three different locations within the cemetery. We also found a unique
grave marker of a child that died in 1839. It was a stone rocking
chair, child size, which had the child's name and age on it, along with
a small angel. Other than this nothing else occurred.
Findings: We did not capture anything out of the ordinary in video or
pictures. Our DVR did not capture any of the sounds of the children
that were heard. It was tough to clearly here our voice recordings
because of the background noise from the highway. We asked our client
how close there were any residences and she told us that the only thing
close was a junkyard and stone quarry. We are unable to explain the
sound of the children. Our client also told us that it had been awhile
since the nurse had been seen. Hoosier Paranormal can neither prove nor
disprove Six Mile Cemetery as a place of paranormal activity based on
our evidence that night.
Also our client informed us about the little chair. She states that
supposedly on midnight of All Hallows Eve that you can see the chair
rocking on it’s own.
Case #7b
Six Mile Cemetery
September 6th, 2010
Stop #3 on the 2010 Cemetery Run
Investigation
This
was Hoosier Paranormal's third cemetery stop on the 2010 Cemetery Run.
This cemetery is more difficult to find as we were approaching it. We
got turned around because of severe weed growth and a new house that
was built since our last visit at this cemetery. After we entered the
cemetery, we went to the top of the hill and stood quietly, asked some
routine EVP questions and tried not to make much noise as we didn't
want to alarm the people in the new house near by. The investigation
was short lasting 44 minutes. We began at 12:17 am on the 6th and ended
at 1:01 am. Equipment used was 4 digital voice recorders and 1
Sony HD IR video camera. Investigators present was: Greg, Robert,
Kenny and Shanon.
Findings
No paranormal activity was recorded on this night.
